SEMINAR
2020.05.22-23
The colloquium ‘What Education: arquitetura, ensino e investigação’ presented the research line “What Education”, one of the 11 topics that structure the (EU)ROPA project.
It explores the sedimentation of an architectural education culture in Portugal between 1966 and 2016, mapping the reaction of architectural schools to the main political and cultural events. Throughout these 50 years, the great challenge for the architect’s education has been the paradigm shift from the fine arts system to the university system, with the integration of social sciences and technologies, in a field predominantly dominated by the arts.
This digital event brought together researchers from the (EU)ROPA project and guest researchers from the “What Education” line, to publicly discuss the first results of the investigation. It intended to identify, for each case study, the most relevant themes and the key moments in the training of the architect. Simultaneously, the challenges brought by this research revealed alignments with the developments of the “What Research” line.
